How it works
Six quiet steps and you are reading.
Choose your level, from A1 to C1.
Pick fiction, non-fiction, or news and culture, then 10, 20, 40 or 60 minutes a text.
Your envelope of three texts turns up on the day you choose, every week or every other week.
Open it in the app. Print it, or send it to your Kindle or Kobo.
Read on paper, at your own pace. You do not need every word.
Post it back in the app and the next envelope is on its way.
Inside the envelope
What each envelope holds.
Three texts at your level: a story, a piece of science or how things work, and news or culture (recipes, festivals, history). Drawings come before and during each one, so you can picture what you read. Key words are explained in the margin, in plainer English.
The coverThree texts, one level, about twenty minutes each. Before you readA map of the place and the people, before the story begins. Words in the marginKey words in bold, explained in plain English at the side.
Four ideas
Think in English, not about it.
Paper keeps the words still.
You do not need every word.
Live in two languages at once.
To be continued
To be continued…
Some envelopes carry a chapter of a classic, adapted to your level. The first is A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. You will not always know when the story returns. When it does, it begins just where you stopped.
For children
Every envelope has a tale, how it works and a piece about the country.
For younger readers there are envelopes with a tale, a piece on how something works and a piece about the country. There are three age bands: 5 to 7, 7 to 9 and 9 to 12. They are printed to colour in and read together.

Questions
Questions.
Do I need a printer?
No. Every envelope also comes as an EPUB for your Kindle or Kobo. E-ink is calm like paper: no notifications, no glare.
If you do print, it is made for plain black and white on A4 or US Letter.
Which level should I choose?
Choose the level that feels a little easy. A1 is for complete beginners and C1 is close to native reading. If in doubt, start lower: reading should feel like reading, not like work.
You can move up after your first envelope.
What if I do not know every word?
That is normal, and it is fine. Each text opens with a short summary and a drawing of the place and the people. Key words are explained at the side in plainer English. Keep going and let the story carry you.
Can I pause?
Yes. You can pause deliveries, or change how often they come, whenever you like.
Is it really never translated?
Really. Every explanation is in English, in plainer words than the text itself. It feels odd for a week. After that it just feels like reading.
Who makes the texts?
Ambitexto is a small independent publisher in the UK. Our texts are adapted from public domain literature and from real news and non-fiction, rewritten for each level, with drawings made for each one. Every text is written from scratch in English, never translated, and checked before release.
